Plans for the cardboard boat, "GiTMO CARDBOARD" Jerry Neugent and his buddies are building at Gitmo for a May 31st race... Good Luck and have a safe event.

Moving Along with construction....

Apparently, The event was a success, you learn something about them, everytime you "use" your cardboard boat...
Here is Jerry's letter about the event to, our event director, Caryl Sutterby:
The boat race was a huge event here. It set a record by almost doubling the entries with 39. I had a blast but did not fair so well. The boat sides were to high and to narrow on width, for the length. We were about 3 ft wide and 17 feet long and top heavy.
We started off and within 10 strokes we rolled over. We got everyone in except myself as I pushed the boat to try to catch up. We were in about 4ft of water. As I was getting ready to jump in the ground under me disappeared and it was over for me. I held on with one hand and swam and kicked the 200 meter course. The back was to high for me to climb in.
The boat I built for a couple kids took 3rd in the juniors division.
I talked to our PAO department and they are going to send lots of pics and the cover story of the race to me this week . I will get it out to you.
Thanks for all of your help
Jerry
