Remember… there is nothing… absolutely nothing… half so much worth doing, as simply messing about in boats!
"PARADE OF CARDBOARD BOATS" ROUTE CHANGES FROM PREVIOUS YEARS... Read on
Hi Cardboard Boaters!
Hope you are well and working hard on your boats. The event is early this year and if you’re like me, you’re about a week behind in getting ready for the 15th Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta.
This purpose of this note is to update everyone about the change in the Cardboard Boat Parade. Due to the closing of 1st Street, the Village of Watkins Glen Police Department have very kindly planned a new parade route and a new staging location.
Staging will be on 5th Street between Decatur and Perry Street.
For those who are walking and carrying their boat staging will be in Layafette Park.
The parade will leave 5th Street turning North on Decatur and move across Route 414 down Decatur into Seneca Harbor Park.
The parade route will be longer and staging should be easier. To stage your boat we suggest you approach using 4th Street / St Rte 414 and turn on to Perry Street …go one block to Porter and follow into line. We will stage boats on both sides of the street, and leave the middle lane open for emergency access.
We are hoping this new staging area and parade route will be easier for everyone and we are very appreciative of the Watkins Village Police for helping to keep our Parade “moving”.
See you all very soon!
